CLEP Exams

CLEP Exams can expedite your nursing career. Over the recent years, today’s nursing schools across the country have seen a huge increase in their enrollment. While some students enrolling in nursing school are traditional college students who have chosen nursing as their life-long career, many nursing students are adults wishing to make a career change. They come from various ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds and these nursing students are often similar in that they are drawn to nursing, based on the flexibility of the career, competitive pay and job security.

With the current economic downturn, a career offering job security is hard to find. In spite of the present economic downturn, nursing continues to be a “recession-proof” job and nurses remain in high demand. In addition to offering high job security and financial benefits, nursing offers the opportunity for a rewarding career by providing help to the sick as well as promoting health in well populations.

The sooner an individual can complete course prerequisites and finish nursing school, the sooner he or she can enter their nursing career. Individuals wishing to pursue a career in nursing can choose to earn a bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree. Both baccalaureate and associate degree nursing programs require students to obtain certain prerequisite degree requirements prior to beginning nursing school.

Nursing students will be surprised to learn that there are often cost and time-saving ways to earn some of their prerequisite course requirements. CLEP, College Level Examination Program, is one such way that nursing students can use to save both time and cash.

CLEP, College Level Examination Program, offers a way for future nursing students and college students in general, to earn some credits through demonstrating college-level proficiency on a standardized exam or test. Most CLEP exams are still multiple choice, computerized and a 90 minute timed exam.

CLEP Exams Offered:

There are currently thirty-four different CLEP exams offered in subjects such as English, science, math, and even social sciences. Credits earned through CLEP exams will often apply toward your nursing school prerequisites. For example, if a nursing school requires students to take Introductory Psychology as a prerequisite to entering the nursing program, the nursing student may have the option of taking the Introductory Psychology CLEP test in order to earn some of the required credits.

By completing many of their nursing degree prerequisites using CLEP exams, students may be able to apply to and enter their desired nursing program a little sooner. Less time spent in class can result in more time spent earning money working as a nurse. In addition, with each CLEP test costing less than $110 to take, the savings compared to taking the actual college class are obvious and can save your cash!

Many nursing students would welcome a way to enter their college’s nursing program sooner or to save cash while attending college, but are unsure of how to go about taking advantage of programs such as CLEP. The College Board’s website, www.collegeboard.com, will provide students with information about CLEP exams, including which exams are available today, CLEP testing center locations and how to prepare oneself for CLEP exams.

Students desiring to take CLEP exams, including students who have little background knowledge on a subject, are often able to prepare for a CLEP test in as little time as a few days or a few weeks. Students can also use a wide variety of CLEP test study resources including online study systems, CLEP test study guides, practice CLEP tests, and even college textbooks.

Students are certainly encouraged to talk to their college academic advisers prior to taking a CLEP test in order to learn about their specific college’s CLEP policies. With over 2,900 colleges and universities accepting CLEP exams today, many nursing students will find that their school will allow them to meet certain prerequisite requirements using CLEP exams.

About Us: CLEP exams are an amazing way for nursing students to save both time and cash and get one step closer to entering the exciting, lucrative, stable and rewarding career of nursing.

Practice Exam

A practice exam is essential in preparing for an exam is not difficult. Having the correct material, including practice exam questions, will help prepare you for your exam. There are so many resources available for students preparing to take a particular exam. The question is “how do I choose the right study guide that will prepare me for my exam”?

Not all students think that study guides will help them increase their grades. It’s your choice. Not all study guides are the same. Find one the best one that is right for you.

You have to match the practice exam with the actual exam you will be taking. Make sure it is the same practice exam for the state you live in. You will have several to choose from, so be sure to look at them all. Look for a practice exam that will not only prepare you for the questions, but get you in the right frame of mine, too. Mental preparation is very important for learning.

The Right Practice Exam

The right practice exam will give you hints about taking the exam as well as information that you will need to learn in order to pass the exam. You should get plenty of rest before taking the exam, eat properly and concentrate while taking the exam.

The question most often asked is what questions can I expect on the exam? Not knowing can cause you to have anxiety and to be nervous when taking a test. Don’t worry, because this is normal. There are many practice questions and other information that will help you if you just look for them.

Practice exams will help you discover whether you are ready for an exam or not. After all, you don’t want to think you are ready, then fail the test and have to take it again. With practice exams, you can get a good feel for whether or not you are ready for an exam, what the test may be like and what questions may be on the exam.

When preparing for exams, don’t speed read or just skim your study guide. Focus and read every word slowly and deliberately, while absorbing the information you will need to pass the exam. Remember, practicing the exam before you take it, will put you at ease and give you much more confidence. The more you read, the more confident you will be.

Taking notes will help you absorb what you are reading. When you write something down, the mind actually absorbs more and can recall it better when you are taking your exam. Arrange your notes by topic and list all of the key points within it. Don’t use computers to type your notes because it’s not the same as actually writing them on paper your self.

Remember, good study habits will prepare you for your exam. Find a good practice exam and you will be closer to passing your exam.

EMT Practice Exam

An EMT practice exam helps you to take the step to becoming an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is not one taken by the light of heart. If you have made the powerful decision to take on a career as important to society as this, you will want to learn as much as you can while in training.

While in the midst of training you will want to go into the final exam as prepared as possible and technology today could be the most important tool. If you are studying to become an EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate (i85 or i99) or EMT Paramedic having access to an EMT practice exam could give you a leg up on your national registry exam. With any training the more practice you can obtain the more knowledge you will retain in the long run.

What better way to learn an intricate curriculum than from the warm glow of your computer screen in your own time. Having the ability to test yourself at home with an EMT practice exam, will help you feel confident in your understanding of the basic, intermediate or paramedic courses. EMT-National-Training.com has everything you need to feel confidant about completing the national registry exam (NREMT). The site has been constructed around the Department of Transportation guidelines.

Articles and information about EMT practice exams have been carefully written by Nationally Certified EMT’s and Paramedics who combined have over 60 years of experience to give the tests that “real life” feel.

Your Own EMT Practice Exam

There is also a great option where you can create your own practice exam. This feature is great because you can challenge yourself as needed with the areas that you need the most work on. These exams are created instantly and can be viewed at a later date so you can learn from your mistakes and feel prepared for the real exam. “…[I] Almost felt like I had my own tutor. I just passed my exam on Thurs. with a 90%.” says David E. about his recent EMT exam.

When one on one learning is not an option learning and practicing online can benefit your study regimen. With an easy to access database, you can choose from a list of categories once you are logged in. You can choose a test consisting of 10 to 30 questions from the following areas of study Emergency Cardiac, Medical, Trauma, Special Patients/OB/Pediatric, EMS Operations, Airway/ Breathing or a test made up of random questions from each category. Once you have selected all of the previous options your test is ready instantly.

Once you complete the sample test you can review your answers and focus your attention on the subjects in need. It is like having an EMT instructor at your beck and call.

It can be stressful knowing that an important exam is in the future and practice can ease that tension. Why not use a system that essentially simulates the real life situation in a relaxed environment like your office or home? The ability to track your progress over time can help tweak areas that are not as strong and only improve the existing foundation of knowledge. The more resources available in the learning stages predicts the strengths and weaknesses that will be apparent in a work environment. Feeling confident is crucial to a job that is as detailed as an Emergency Medical Technician.

3 simple principles which have been recommended by your tutors are of course fundamentally important, but examiners tend to respond positively to evidence and information gathered outside of these. If you do make reference to something you have read on the internet or in any other written form it is essential that you acknowledge it by referencing it. You must at all costs avoid plagiarism! Do not pretend the work of others is your own. You will invariably be found out.

Unless you are supremely gifted or you enjoy infallible good luck, then the need to study for exams is absolutely vital. Studying for exams should already be an integral part of your student life. It is not something you start just a few weeks or even months before the event. But “how best to study?” you ask. Well here are some useful pointers.

ORGANIZATION

The organization of your study should be paramount. You should arrange to study somewhere where you can be relaxed, free from interruption and where you feel secure. You should ensure that you have access to the resources you need i.e. desk, PC or laptop. Try to create your own ambience, or matrix, in which you feel happy working. Many students find that playing music at a reasonable volume helps them to concentrate; others prefer silence. You need to find what best suits you.

DISCIPLINE

Another essential ingredient for successful exam study is discipline. It should not be random or hit and miss. Planned times should be designated for study and you must try to keep to these. There will always be temptations for you, to do other things all of which may seem infinitely preferable than having to work, but you should try and resist these when they are offered. If you do have to miss a planned study session then have a contingency plan to make up for what has been missed.

STUDY TECHNIQUES

Finding information – There are a number of ways to access information be it via the internet, books, magazines or articles or other forms of the written word. Course books

So by following these 3 simple principles you can set yourself on the road to academic success.

After you finish your lecture, it can be tempting to kick back and relax. Or if you have another class after the one you finished, you may be rushing to get to your next class. But when you do that, you’re losing an opportunity to reduce your studying time.
After class, the best thing to do is to immediately review your notes. This is because the material is fresh in your head. You’re able to quickly understand the material and help get it into your long-term memory.

But when you wait until later to review your notes, such as when you get home, it’ll take longer to understand the material. You’ll need to spend some time trying to refresh your memory on what was taught in class.

It’s better to save your time from doing that and take advantage of the opportunity to review your notes immediately after class. Even if you have to go straight to your next class, spending just 2 or 3 minutes reviewing your notes is still beneficial.

If you establish this as a habit, you’ll save a lot of time. For instance, let’s say it takes you 15 minutes to refresh your memory when you review your notes at home. You have 3 classes a week for this one course. So that’s 45 minutes a week, 180 minutes a month, or 540 minutes per semester (assuming that final exams start in the fourth month). You’ll be losing 9 hours per semester.
If you take 3 courses, that’s 27 hours lost. With 5 courses, that’s 45 hours lost.

But if you establish the habit of reviewing your notes immediately after class, you’ll be saving those hours.
