CLEP, known to many as College-Level Examination Program, is probably the best way for a high school senior who is planning to attend a college and wanting to get some college credits in the shortest amount of time without having to spend their money by attending normal college courses.

At present, about 2900 colleges approve CLEP credits and the majority do not even charge a fee for transferring the credits to your college transcript.  It will cost you about $110 to take a CLEP exam and you can get these credits for a college semester without actually having to take the course.

By taking the CLEP exam, you can earn credits by using the basic material that you have already mastered and are knowledgeable in without actually having to take the class itself.

CLEP Preparation

CLEP exams are not as easy to pass as you would probably think!  The CLEP exam will certainly make you dig deep within your knowledge.  By spending the time necessary to prepare for your CLEP exam, you can increase your odds of passing and getting those precious college credits.  Of course, discipline and focus are the two major items you must have when preparing to take your exam.  The motivation you have can be maintained by considering the time and money you will save.

At your fingertips today, there are many online materials to help prepare you for your CLEP exam.  There are free practice sample tests and study guides that you can use anytime you want.  They will give you a very good idea of what you can expect and what you should study for before you take your exam.  In addition, you can purchase online, CLEP study guides that have probable questions and the answers that you will see on the actual exam you will take.

Today, there are numerous websites available that have multiple options for studying for your CLEP exam.  Be sure to search the web for all other possible ways you can study for your exam.  The majority of these ways are absolutely free to use and will be extremely helpful to you for studying.

The exam is a timed, 90 minute exam.  These exams are usually multiple choice questions, which help quite a bit.  Be sure that you pace your time accordingly so you can complete the entire exam within the time allowed, while still being sure to answer most of the questions with the correct answers.

It is extremely crucial for you to get a good night’s sleep the night before your exam, eat a good, nutritious breakfast, bring a couple of #2 pencils (in case your testing center does not use computers) and a working calculator with you on the day of your CLEP exam.  Arrive a little early so as to minimize any possible stress you may have.

CLEP – College Level Examination Program

Pearson Vue is just a testing center and is not in any way connected with NCSBN or NCLEX-RN. They are just the testing center that facilitates the exam.

It is important to know that different state boards of nursing have different requirements. Make sure before taking the NCLEX-RN application, you are eligible. The first step upon determining that you are eligible is to send the state board of nursing of the territory where you would like to practice. Although the NCLEX-RN exam is nationwide, the eligibility to take the NCLEX exam is individual and unique per each state.

After being eligible, you would then need to register to pearson vue, and pay the appropriate fees. For international test takers, an additional $150 may be required.

The next step would be to register for the testing center where you would like to take the exam. There are nationwide and worldwide testing centers for Pearson VUE. It would be great if you could have your schedule weeks before starting the test to have ample time for your review.

Then after getting the Authorization to test you would then need to get started reviewing for the test.
